UP LIFTING

This afternoon I will be fitted with a device to assist me in lifting my right foot when
I walk. I've been doing therapy for a few weeks to strenghten my foot/leg. I tend to
drag my foot due to my MS. I sure hope this helps prevent me from falling so much.
The therapy has helped me so much that I plan to work the plan as long as I can.
Yesterday was busy for us. We had our picture made for the church directory and
then attended Bible study. When we got home, all three of us were too tired to do
much of anything.
I've been asked to preach the first Sunday in June for a pastor who will be on vacation.
This will be my first sermon as a retired pastor since I retire the Thursday before I
preach. It's good to know I can still be of help from time to time. I hope I get many
more invitations to preach since I love doing it so very, very much.
Today would be a good day to sleep since it's raining but I thinkI will stay up and
read a new book I've bought. I better get the coffee to perking.

ONE GOT OUT!!

As a father and his son passed by a cemetary, the little boy noticed that
a grave had dirt piled up near by. He then told his father, "Look, Dad,
one got out!"
Jesus got out! "Up from the grave He arose." It was as if God told Jesus,
"Get out of here!" "Up from the grave He arose."
"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow."Can't you?
Get the word out! He lives. He lives, Christ Jesus lives today. You ask me
how I know He lives, He lives with in my heart."

IT'S RAINING

I was going to wash the car today but it is RAINING.
I was going to mow the yard today but it is RAINING
I was going to till the garden today but it is RAINING
I was going to take a walk but it is RAINING
I was going to clean the gutters today but it is RAINING
I was going to sleep in today if it RAINED
I love RAIN, don't you?

Bird Dog

Our daughter's dog, Derby, has a habit of barking too much.. Way too much! This morning
he was barking at the birds as if to tell them our back yard is off limits to them. When he
runs after them, they fly on off as if to say, "let me see you fly!" The other two dogs stare
at Derby as if to say, "Can't you see we're trying to sleep?"
Whenever the big dog's have dog food, Derby wants it. Whenever Derby has his dog food,
the big dogs want his. Mix the two together all all is well with the three of them. I think
they are mixed up dogs.
Derby likes to be with me on the front porch swing watching what's going on. He barks
at cars, dogs, people....you name it and Derby barks at it. It's hard to read or drink my
coffee with Derby jumping all over the place. Most of the time I stop whatever I'm doing
and watch him watching what is going on.
Right now he is sleeping on the cool floor while I blogg. He is getting me sleepy too so I'm
out of here. Nap time. Come on, bird dog.

HERE COMES THE JUDGE

Kentucky Supream Court Justice, John D. Minton, and I met one another before worship on
Easter Sunday. John's father and my father died last year. This would be our first Easter
without having our father's with us. John and I smiled at one another knowing that they
celebrated their first Easter together in Heaven where everyday is Easter.
I performed the wedding of John and Susan while his pastor several years ago. We've
gone through the good times and the bad times knowing that God would always be with
us. I'm so proud of John D. Minton, Jr. for many reasons. Most all, because he puts his
faith to work so well. I know his father felt the same way.

300 WORDS ABOUT THE WORD

I'm having trouble writing a short statement about my preaching for forty four years.
It is due Friday for it to be published for Annual Conference. I can only use 300 words
to say what I want to say. That's hard for a long-winded preacher like me. I heard your
"amen!" How does one make a mini-message to pull 44 years together?
To top that, they want a picture of me. Which one? I have one out in front of my first
church that shows a good looking young preacher. I have one standing by Bishop King.
My daughter says I'm cuter than he is. Don't tell him! By the way, she is right. I have
showing me looking like Tarzan. I look like a wild man. Me Tarzan. Anyone seen Jane?
Maybe I should send the one of me in my pj's standing by my mother when I was 15
years old since I once preached at Broadway in my pj's. Not!! Bishop Spain thought it
was creative. That's the seal of approval for me.
300 words can be said in one, WONDERFULL! Wonderfull because of a WONDERFULL
SAVIOR! I can talk about that forever because "this is my story, this is my song, praising
my Savior all the day long." Amen & Amen. That's all folks!

Happy Easter

I look forward to celebrating Easter early in the morning. I will serve Communion at the
8:15 service and then attend the 9:30 contempoary service. My wife and daughter both
will be singing with the Praise Team. Following these services we will either go out to eat
or go to a resturant. I will let the family say what we do.
I've enjoyed reading from a couple of new books this week. One deals with the role of a
pastor in seeking God's Word and then sharing it in such a way that it enables the hearers
to find healing and help. I'm also reading a new book by John Maxwell because he always
helps me in my day to day walk with Jesus and others.
Sunday afternoon I hope to watch Master's Golf and hope to see Kenny Perry win a
green coat. He deserves this high honor after all he has accomplised through the years.
And, he is from just a few miles down the road from where we live. What more can I
say? Happy Easter, how's that!

Back in Bowling Green

I bought three books while we were in Lexington for a few days this week. I've met
two of the writers and look forward to getting into the books soon. I've got them "on
hold" on purpose. It's like delayed gradification. I know that once I start reading them,
I will have trouble putting them down till I'm through reading them.
It was great to take three days to be back in Lexington. We shopped and shopped but
got some R & R as well. We needed a mini-vacation since it has been awhile since the
last one. We were there when UK broke the news on the new basketball coach. That's
all anyone was talking about. Everywhere we went, people were talking about how
good or how bad it was. Being born in Lexington, I say, "Go, big blue!!
Our yard needs mowing after all the rain we've had. I guess that will be on the "to do"
list to do. I'll call James and let him do it since I'm 65 now and too old. I may be 65 but
I'm still smart! Besides, I need to take care and not over do.
