BLOGGED DOWN

It has been awhile since I have Blogged anything. I think I got Blogged down
somehow. Well, I'm back! I might not say much worth reading but I will keep
on sharing from time to time.
My whole purpose in writing is to help the reader have a better day. So, if
you keep coming back, I'll keep the porch light on, ya hear. So, go out there
and have a great day.

WALK & TALK

One of my favorite writers is John Eldredge so last month I read his newest book,
Walking with God. I was fed some real good spititual soul food that makes me
want to walk with God more and more. Maybe that is why I am blessed by the
books that Eldredge writes. I think I have read each one of his books over the
years.
One sentence that struck me was, "Sitting here on the porch with God..." It made
me stop and think of just how close God is. God is everywhere. That's why I want
to walk with Him day by day. I hope you do as well.

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN

I've been busy with preaching for the past three weeks at a small church nearby. I've
preached at Bever Dam UMC ten times over the past few years. They have been a
delight to worship with and work with. But now there pastor is moving after ten
years. The good news for me is that he will be just a few miles from where we live.
I will miss being at Bever Dam. They have let me be me, which is dangerous. I hope
I didn't do too much damage. Maybe Gary will have me at his new church one of these
days. If he does, that proves he is a nut!
I've missed my home church where I consecrate Communion at the early service each
Sunday, So I look forward to being back tommorow morning. After attending the 8:15
service I go to the 9:30 contemporary service with my family. Then we flip the coin
on where we go to eat lunch. Anywhere but White Castle is fine with this nut!

PEOPLE NEED PEOPLE

Last week I bought a new book by Leonard Sweet entitled, 11. Sweet shares some thoughts
about how people need people to accomplish much in life. Eleven people from the Scriptures
are excellent examples of how being connected is so crucial. We are made for one another.
I think this one of his best books I've read.
I met Leonard Sweet a few years ago and look forward to hearing him in person in a few
weeks in Louisville, Ky. He will sharing thoughts from his book, The Gospel According to
Starbucks. While I don't agree with all he has to say, I think what he has to say is right on
target for the most part. He thinks "ouside the box."
