A few minutes ago I learned that a dear friend died late last night. Dean was a member
of a church in Bowling Green where I was pastor several years ago. Every Sunday at
the 8:15 service, Dean would shake my hand as help slip a piece of candy into my hand.
It was a breath mint. I asked Dean if my breath was that bad. He never did answer me
which leaves me wondering.
Dean and I joked back and forth like a ping-pong match. Most of the time he would
out-wit me, which isn't easy to do. Following every service where I participated in
the service he would always aproach me as he was about to leave and say, "Well
done." Now that Dean has left I simply say, "Dean, well done, friend, well done." I'll
miss his humor and his smile, but most of all I'll miss a man who made others feel
better by his love.
