When I walked into church for the 8:15 service this morning I was met by my District
Supertindent, Dr. Mike Powers. He said he was preaching at the three services today
since our senior pastor was taking some time off. I was glad to see Dr. Powers because
he is a good preacher. He hit a home run in that service and I'm sure did the same at
the other two.
It was so strange not to see Dean Maggard in the service today. He died last week and
will be buried tommorrow. He was one of the people who made you glad you were in
the House of the Lord. Dean was a door-keeper in the House of the Lord as he would
welcome everyone to worship. Now someone else has to take that post and welcome
people as Dean did.
I hope to relax and read and maybe even watch a golf game on tv today. After all
it is a day of rest.

I think it's a testement to Dean that going to church meant seeing him. And that people smile when they talk about him. We'll see him in Worship again one day...
